Freedom in Being

In this article, we will explore, a little bit, our inherent freedom.

Before we explore our freedom, we will touch on the topic of judgment. Accordingly, we will explore the freedom that lies within our own Nature, and how our perception and experience of the world will change, once we acknowledge the freedom that lies within.

The new experience and perception we will have of the world, and ourselves in relation to the world, will become peaceful and overall happy.

A judgemental attitude

In general, we tend to hold many opinions about others. It is not only that we hold strong opinions of others, but also that we judge others, based on these ideas we hold of them.

When others are unwilling or unable to see things the way we see them, or when they do not make themselves fit into our mental boxes, we hold judgments.

The funniest of all, is that we judge other people for their judgments!

When a person judges others for their beliefs, customs, or whatever it may be, we tend to do exactly the same thing and judge them for judging others.

This aspect of judging is so deeply woven into our lives, that we are mostly unaware of it. But, we can become aware of it when we take some distance from our habits and daily lives, and view it from another perspective.

We just have to watch our thoughts, like we watch the television, and we will soon see what thought patterns exist within us.

In other words, we check up!

Consciousness

Now, let's consider our freedom. Here, we are not considering the freedom of a person, a physical body, or a 'separate self'. Of course, a limited, separate entity can never be free!

So, we have to look into our True Nature. Consciousness.

As we have explored many times in previous articles, consciousness is always free, open, and unbound. Consciousness contains everything, and consciousness is also the creator of everything. Consciousness offers the space for everything to manifest, without discrimination, while simultaneously containing what is unmanifested.

We are this very consciousness.

First, we have to realize that we are consciousness. Then, we have to realize that this consciousness is not limited in any way, and that it is also 'not two'. There are not 'two or more' consciousnesses. See, even the word 'consciousnesses' does not make any sense!

With this realization or understanding, we see that there is only consciousness, and whatever 'someone' does, is merely an expression of the free will of consciousness.

Thus, we do not have to judge the actions of another, nor do we have to 'fix' others. It is the freedom of consciousness to decide, in every brand-new moment, what it wants to believe, what concept it wants to hold, and what action it wants to perform.
It is even the freedom of consciousness to believe that it is a 'separate self'.

When we see matters in this way, it brings about a big relief. It brings about peace and acceptance. We no longer hold judgments, as there is no 'other' to hold the judgment against. And, most importantly, we dissolve the idea of wanting to liberate 'others'.

As space contains the mountains, the sun, all planets, and everything on them, so does consciousness contain everything.
