Our own emptiness

In this article, we are going to discuss and explore our own emptiness.

Before we proceed, the author wants to point out the following; The intention of this article is not to reach a nihilistic conclusion. The idea is not to end with the belief of "Nothing is real, nothing exists".

This will not take care of our unhappiness. Instead, it will make life seem to be grey, dull, and boring.

The intention behind exploring and knowing our own emptiness, is to bring to the surface the inner Peace and Happiness which we truly are.

No expectation

In a number of previous articles, we have explored how we are not this physical body, not the thoughts arising, not the sensations flowing. This makes sense, right?

If not, please have a look at some of the earlier articles, listed at the bottom of this page.

So, as we investigate our own emptiness, we start to feel 'less dense', for lack of better words. We start to feel, intuitively, that we are not this physical body.

Before starting our investigation, it is worth noting the following. Our investigation into our own emptiness should not be initiated with the expectation of some mystical experience happening. This means, to avoid checking up, with the hopes that some spiritual revelation will suddenly dawn upon us. Of course, this is possible, but we should not sit in expectation. This will simply feed the idea that there is a 'someone' to attain a 'something' at some future stage, see?

If we simply start to be open to the possibility of our own emptiness, this is already a great step!

Even if it starts off as a purely intellectual understanding, this is also good. Soon, our thoughts will start to fall in line with this understanding. Accordingly, our physical actions will align with this understanding too.

So, small steps are good. Patiently investigating, and persisting with our inquiry.

Troubles fading

As the solid beliefs we hold of ourselves start to dissolve, the worries and the stress of this identity start to dissolve too.

See? Our stress, worries, anger, guilt, they are associated with this false identity we hold. As soon as this identity fades, the worries and anxieties fade too. Or, they may still appear from time to time, but they have no value.

This is great, isn't it? But wait, there's more!

As our own false identity fades, so do the false identities we hold of others. This means that the concept of those 'others' that we usually blame for our unhappiness, fades. Also, the so-called happiness we expect from 'others' fades too.

This means that we start to see so-called 'others' for who and what they truly are. The false identities fade, the separation fades. The veil falls. The result, is peace and happiness.

This peace and happiness is not something new. We realize that it was always like this, we were simply clinging to these mental concepts, veiling the True Nature of ourselves and reality.
