Bringing peace to the Universe

How many times have we heard words like "Bring peace to the whole Universe" or "End the suffering of the whole World"?

From time to time, the author often reads or hears discussions about 'saving' the Universe or liberating every single being from suffering. This is quite a noble idea or intention, for sure. Yet, is this even possible? Some may say no, but the author feels yes!

The next question is obviously, how do we do this?

Well, let's consider the following before we get deeper into this. How do we understand the concept of 'the Universe'? Do we see the Universe as everything existing out there, in relation to us? Animals, plants, planets, people, etc, that exist in relation to us?

If so, then let's consider a different approach, just for the sake of this article,

A personal Universe

What about considering that our Universe is personal to each of us, each 'soul' or each 'mind' creating it. What if the unlimited Universes existing, means that within each of us, a unique Universe exists. Consider this...

We all experience different, unique realities. Absolutely nobody has the same reality as we have. Even if we live together, work together, grow up together, our realities are different from other people's realities. So, we can say that we are each a unique Universe of our own. The Universe we experience, exists solely within us.

Each and every one of us, we are our Universe, and every single object in our Universe is connected to us. It is an extension of us, or a manifestation of us.

Even though we all share the same 'space' for our Universes, we are having different experiences. For example, two separate individuals may both experience rain, in the same place at the same time. One person may be happy, dancing in the rain and enjoying it, while the other is annoyed with it.

This is just a simple example, but it serves the purpose of pointing out how we experience the same event in different ways.

Our Universe can not exist without us in it. We may say, due to logical reasoning and through the concept of linear time, that the world existed before we were born, that it will carry on after we die. Yet, this is not our experience.

We, as our True Self, are observing the mind, watching the 'play' happening. The play created by the mind.

Our entire reality, or our whole Universe, originates from the mind and dissolves back into this same space. Our whole Universe comes from us and returns back into us.

By seeing life in this way, it is also clear to see how we are all interconnected, how we are all one, how everyone and everything is connected to us. This understanding can help us to shatter this illusion of separateness, which causes us so much suffering.

Inter-dependence

Let's repeat the following again, We are our Universe, and nothing in our Universe can exist without us. The world gets manifested into existence by us, and dissolves back into us.

Taking this into consideration, we can now go to the next point.

When we find peace, true peace in our hearts, when we live in peace and happiness, combined with wisdom and compassion, what kind of Universe shall we create and experience? Imagine carrying peace within ourselves, wherever we go, everywhere in our Universe. Even when we hear about wars and poverty, we do not get angry, because we understand concepts of duality and non-duality, we understand Karma, and we have compassion towards suffering, without getting attached to the idea of it, understanding the impermanence of the suffering.

Having, and understanding wisdom, patience, and compassion, we remain in peace, we remain mindful. Our experience, our Universe, is one of peace. In this way, we bring peace to our whole Universe.

Does this make any sense?

Thus, we can say that there are infinite Universes, interconnected to other Universes. Universes come and go, exist, and go out of existence.

The author once heard someone asking His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama the question "What do you think of the Big Bang?" His answer was "Which one?" followed by a chuckle.

This answer puzzled the author for a long time until the understanding came that we are our own Universe, and each time we are conceived, a new Universe starts with a Big Bang! Haha, this may sound silly, but for the author, it felt like a light-bulb moment!

To conclude, we can bring peace to our Universe. We do not have to bring peace, end suffering, or whatever ideas are out there. We are simply pointing out that the Universe is way more personal and intimate than we may consider it to be.
