Nurturing the energy body, part 3

This is going to be the third and last part of our three-part topic on spiritual anatomy. So far, with the kind help and insight of Sanjana, we have covered the six lower chakras. In this post, we shall cover the seventh chakra, which is called the crown chakra.

Herewith, the insight from Sanjana on this topic, and again as she requested, in color ;)

Sahasrara or Crown chakra

Crown chakra or, Sahasrara meaning thousand-petaled, is the 7th chakra and the topmost chakra in terms of ascension of consciousness. It is represented by a Lotus flower with thousand petals opening, representing the exalted state of spiritual unity with divine or universe.

At this point, there is no awareness of separation and the person experiences complete oneness or unity of identity. It is like merging with the Divine or 'I am' that stage of existence. In other words, the consciousness of the aspirant gets totally liberated from the illusions or Maya and he becomes an embodiment of yoga or union of self with that of higher. He feels liberation from the matrix of this world limited by time and space.

The goal and the aspirant become one at this point. It can also be called the state of Transcendence. Super ether or Brahm is the experience of the aspirant at this point.

Location: Around the area at the top of the head or crown of the head
Colour: Violet
Element: Super etheric or cosmic energy
In Balance: We feel divine oneness and spiritual unification with Higher Self
Out of balance: Feeling of spiritual separateness
Affirmation: There is only divine oneness

A final overview

This concludes the seven chakras of the energy body. In addition to this, the author would like to add that there is said to be more chakras in the more subtle energy body, which are not part of the seven main chakras we are familiar with, but we shall not discuss them here.

However, the author would like to add the following, very very briefly. From the author's experience, there are smaller chakras or energy portals located in the palm of each hand. When we 'activate' these chakras, so to speak, we become sensitive to energies from these points.

This comes in very handy (pun intended) when we use our hands for healing. According to what the author was told, upon a Reiki initiation, the hand chakras of the student get activated from the Reiki master.

Overall, the study of the chakras and the understanding of how energy works can be very profound. We can use this in many ways, which are probably way beyond the imagination of some of us at this point. What we want to be sure of, is our intentions.

We can use knowledge and wisdom in several ways, and therefore it is advisable to always have selfless intentions, always having the intention to benefit others, and applying the combination of wisdom and method.

If we are not careful, we can create very unfortunate circumstances for ourselves and those around us. Again, the author would like to repeat the following; Always check up on our intentions, make sure it does not arise from an ego-mind. Whatever we do, we do it with kindness and compassion.

To end this very interesting article, the author would like to thank Sanjana for taking the time to put all her knowledge into writing, sharing it with us.

  1. From the author's side, what helped him in order to connect to these energy centers, was a combination of:

    - Visualizing. Visualize the colors of each chakra on its location. Also, visualize energy flowing from this space, in the colour associated with each chakra.

    - Seed mantras: Each chakra has a seed syllable or mantra, which can be chanted. The vibration is said to resonate with the chakras, and awakens them.

    - Imagine: Imagining energy flowing and these energy portals in their locations. This goes together with visualizing. It may start off as mere imagination, but soon we shall realize that it is in fact real!

    - Stones or crystals: There are certain stones and crystals which are said to resonate with the chakras, and can assist in healing, balancing and opening them.

    - Meditation: Meditate on this. Calm the mind, calm the body, and rest the focus on these energy portals. Soon, we shall see that we are more sensitive to emotions linked to these chakras, and with time we can also become sensitive to the energies and work with it accordingly.

Please feel free to share more insight on this topic!
