A reflection of the mind

The inspiration for this article comes from a recent conversation the author had with a good friend.

She expressed something like the following... She said that whenever she is experiencing or expressing a disturbed state of mind, such as irritation, anger or so, it seems like she suffers the consequences of it quite quickly.

Her state of mind manifests as her physical reality, and it has a certain effect, kind of a 'negative' effect. For example, something in her house broke.

As soon as the author heard this, it immediately resonated with his experience! Just recently the author himself was experiencing some disturbance in the mind and verbally expressed some irritation, which was not expressed most kindly. Just a few moments later, maybe in less than five minutes, the author cut himself on the finger, experiencing a lot of pain!

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone reading this? This may sound like a mere coincidence, but we know that the Universe is way too intelligent for coincidences!

So, how does this happen? Let's discuss!

How it happens

The first one is a theory, a mere theory, but it carries a lot of merits. It is called Karma.

In this sense, we shall use the understanding of Karma as cause and effect, or action and reaction. Simply said, what you put in, you get back. The Bible said something similar - you shall reap what you sow, or something like that.

We don't have to belong to a specific religion or believe in a certain philosophy in order to understand this concept. It is quite simple, and it can be applicable to all of us, regardless of our beliefs. Even in middle-school science, we learn that every action has a reaction.

Thus, when you hurt someone, you shall in return experience hurt. When you express kindness, well... we can do it and see for ourselves.

Some of us may differ, saying that we do in fact perform a lot of virtuous deeds, but it seems like we never experience them in return. In the same way, some of us may feel that we secretly perform a lot of non-virtuous acts, and we are getting away with it too, not suffering from the consequences.

Well, what if we have been doing this for so long, that our whole life is just made out of experiencing the causes of what we have done in the past? Doing virtuous and non-virtuous actions for such a long time, that it piles up and we experience effects without even knowing the causes? Well, that is surely possible in theory, isn't it?

And when we consider this, we can also consider the concept of reincarnation, but that is a whole new topic and not to be discussed here.

A glance at reality

Let's look at our actual experiences, the actual reality we are experiencing. In previous articles, we already discussed how we are one with our Universe, how the so-called internal and external is the same thing. It means that whatever we create inside of the mind, manifests physically, and we experience it as such.

Don't believe this? Check up. The shoes we are wearing, where we are sitting, it started with a thought. A thought of "I'll wear these shoes today" or "I'm gonna sit here". It all starts in the mind and becomes our reality. Maybe we are not all the time aware of the thoughts, because we are so used to thinking that we are not doing it consciously, but seriously, observe and see what happens.

The more we dissolve the ego, the more we become one with our Universe. The less ego we experience, the more Universe we experience. It is a paradox. Experiencing less of the self, while experiencing more of the Self.

Therefore, the more we get into harmony with our Universe, the more profoundly and instantly we can experience the results of our actions.

When we perform actions of hurting or harming someone, we experience hurt or harm ourselves, because, in reality, we are the Universe that we are harming or hurting.

Acting mindfully

Through experience and through suffering, we realize that it is not beneficial to perform harmful actions of mind, body, and speech. This leads us to become more mindful about what we do, what we say, and what we think, because we know that it gets experienced very quickly, sometimes nearly instantly!

Sure, this may sound a bit heavy, but hey, it is not all that bad! Fortunately for us, it goes both ways. When we express love, kindness, and compassion, this becomes our reality too, it becomes our experience. Knowing this, we can consciously decide what kind of reality we want to manifest into existence!
